Scarecrow Program for September and October

We are currently planning a scarecrow competition in the mood of spooky October themes.  We'd like to have a competition though, meaning if you'd like to be a part of this, you'll have to make your scarecrow during September and submit it by Sept 30th.  You'll have it back in time for your own Halloween decorating, but it will be on display throughout the month of October where members of the public may vote on it.

Here's the twist:

The scarecrow must be made in the likeness of a character from a book, movie, or video game.

Get to thinking about what character you'd like to make and feel free to ask questions in the comments, though we're still working out the details right now.  I'll be posting more information about this program, including rules and guidelines, on the library webpage as well as the TeenZone facebook page next week.

Game Night During the School Year

People have been asking me about this so I'm going to clarify in a post:

I plan to continue to host Game Night during the school year at the same time and place (4pm in the Community Room).

We are also in the middle of planning other teen  programs here at the library, including possibly another tournament, most likely in November.

Upcoming Tournament

The Super Smash Bros. Brawl tournament is almost upon us!  First prize is a total of $25 in GameStop gift cards and second place takes home $15 of the same.

Click here to see the official post on the library website

click here to register for the tournament online.

You can also register by talking to me at Game Night this afternoon or at the front desk tomorrow.  We will have some time for warm-up matches on Tuesday, but otherwise today is your last chance to get in some practice before the tournament, so I hope to see you at Game Night!

Game Night Back on Track!

Vroom vroom

Game Night will be back to the normal place and time this Friday, August 1st.  That means the Community Room and video games will be back to normal.  We also have some new XBOX360 games added to our collection, so be sure to try them out.

Don't forget we also have our upcoming Smash Bros tournament for the Wii.  This will be on Tuesday. August 12th at 3pm.  I will post more information about this tournament soon.  You can register for this tournament online here or, if your prefer, you can register by talking to me at the library.

Have a great rest of the week!

Card Night

Unfortunately, Game Night has to be canceled for a while due to Science in the Summer and our upcoming Author Visit.

It's too short notice for today, but on the 22nd and the 25th of July we will have "Card Night" in the Boardroom in place of Game Night.  For this activity, feel free to bring any type of card game, be it Yu-Gi-Oh!, Magic the Gathering, or even Old Maid.  Game Night will be back to normal on Friday, July 31st.

If you would like to sign up for the Super Smash Bros tournament, I can register you up for that this Friday at Game Night.  This event is intended for teens going into grades 6-12 but there is wiggle room for younger participants.
